Description

12 x 2hr sessions delivered September - December 2021, plus a 12hr supervised placement and 1:1 support. The course will cover the following:
1: Introduction - Introduction to the National Occupational Standards of Youth Work including youth work values.
2: Models of youth work -Exploring different models of youth work delivery and the strengths and weaknesses of each
3: Communication in youth work - How to communicate with young people effectively and how to improve the communication skills of young people
4: Establishing Youth Work - How to establish youth work in a new area including the value, challenges and best-practice guidelines in relation to partnership working
5: Understanding adolescence - Understanding the cognitive and physical changes that take place during adolescence and how to respond to these effectively as a youth worker
