This informal course will offer you an opportunity to explore your current IT skills and work with a tutor to learn new skills and get you ready to progress to IT Qualifications.
You will look at different IT skills we use in our daily lives, how digital skills can help us and how we can keep ourselves safe when working online.
There are no requirements for the course. You may benefit from developing your maths or English skills first before you start.
What will this course cover?
Your tutor will help you to set your own, individual learning goals that will support you towards achieving your course aims.
You will learn how to become more familiar with using the mouse and the keyboard to carry out basic computer skills.
During the course you will cover:
- Use a computer
- Use a keyboard and mouse
- Use the Internet
- Send emails
- Find out how to keep safe when using a computer and working online
- Build a small portfolio, which you can take away
- Receive a certificate of attendance
What could I do next?
You could progress to another appropriate courses that will help you advance in both the work environment and lifestyle. Your tutor will advise you on your progression pathway.
Many learners choose to progress onto an ICT qualification at Entry Level such as
- Start IT - Entry 3
- Functional Skills ICT - Entry 1 / Entry 2 / Entry 3 / Level 1 / Level 2
You could progress to a higher level or you could progress to an accredited English or Maths course or onto another course which will help you advance in both the work environment and lifestyle.
